Springtime Misery rally?
« on: March 10, 2010, 12:33:47 PM »
Or maybe this should be called the "Hayfever Misery Rally!"

This is very short notice, but on April 23, 24 and 25, throttle8 (Bill and his wife Pat) are bringing my new lathe down here from St. Charles, IL. Just like when he and I decided to get together to go through his new (at the time!) Trail over 1-1/2 years ago, we decided to open up the get-together to anybody wishing to come on down (over, up, across; whatever the case may be!). I know there are several riders from Illinois, like Duk and Dennis. And, there is Gabe from just south of me in Springfield. We have about 7 of us around here in the KC area, too. Who knows, maybe once again I could get David here, plus Gerrie? ( I do have at least two trikes to loan, David!)

I am officially inviting anybody interested in a totally unorganized rally weekend to come to the KC area for some riding in who-knows-what kind of weather at our favorite lake. David can tell you how nice those trails are!

We have many hotels within about four miles of my house. Super-8, Best Western are where my family stays when in town when our house fills up.

Everythng about this weekend is, and will stay, very loosly organized! Not sure just yet when Bill and Pat plan to arrive, but who cares? Just get here when you want to and we can always do early rides, or play with our trikes. Free tune-ups offered for those who trust the "House of Holes" maniac!

Are there any victims, 'er..............interested parties out there? If so, I will gather up the hotel and travel info for you. Brownies, too! Maybe we could get Duk's better half to do some of her award-winning brownies in her special pan. I have a new pan, too, that makes all brownies like edges and corners. If you aren't a brownie conosewer, you won't understand how important that is!

Why couldn't you be here? I would reserve Dave Balfour's old '03 # 49, complete with the 700c wheel, just for you, John!

I certainly don't mean to leave out any of the rest of you! It's just such short notice that I figured on local(?) riders being willing to make the trip by car in just a few hours at most, and bring their own rides with them. If anybody wants to fly in, I can provide two MTB's, a bent bike and one homebuilt cruiser trike! If Joe and Cheryl have plans already, maybe I could beg, borrow or steal their trikes, too!

If anybody has any questions and wants unbiased answers, just ask David (devious56) or Bill (throttle8). Dey done been here and done dis!

Eww sounds fun. I will join ya if my back is feeling good. I have some compressed discs and a car ride over an hour can sometimes puts me in some pain. I was planning to do a Katy Trail ride next month ,but getting to meet some of the nice guys and gals on here sounds more fun. Hope i can join ya! Good idea. :D

Gabe, come on! I just gotta meet the other half of the couple who knows where I got married the first time! Besides, I can reserve your old Roadster if you want! It's a bit nicer now, with triggers, a front triple, idlers in place of tubes and an 11-32 rear cassette. If you can make the KATY trail, you can make it to here!

John, all ya gotta do is walk onto the plane and off, twice!

Dennis, should I have my people call your people?

Great, Gabe! Would love to tune your bike and go over it with you before the hoards get here! And, depending on other arrivals, maybe an early ride on Friday. You might even get some seat time on HS!

I was just up around where most of the motels were and we also have a Quality Inn, and an American Inn ($39.99/nite). Our super 8 and Motel 6 are newer ones, and are very clean. Our Motel 6 stills leaves the light on, inspite of the economy!

All of these motels are within walking distance of Bandana's BBQ, a Mikey-D's, Red Lobster, Fudrucker's Burgers (my favorite!), and last but not least, a Krispy-Kreme!!! This is all within a long walking distance of many more eateries, and more motels, if there is something more that I didn't mention to suit your tastes. It's all within 1/2 mile of almost anything you could want to eat around here! And, all of it is just at the Noland Road exit of the I-70 fwy. Easy on and off, and a straight shot east to St. Louis.

Folks, i would like to introduce my brother, Wheezer!  He really is my brother! Lives near Davenport, Iowa! Doesn't have a trike, but I think he has the bug! I hope he can make it to the rally here!

Now, all we have to worry about is if my sisters get the bug! Oh, heaven help us all!

Gabe, I live in Independence, on the east side of Kansas City. We're about three miles north of I-70, just off of Noland Road.

Man would I like to come just too long of a commute from Thailand.  I would really appreciate the free tune-up.  I get jealous hearing of all of you guys getting together.  Here the trike is an oddity and the local riders don't like when I bring it along (they can't catch a draft).

Anyone for a rally in Thailand?  I could hook you up with some good Thai food.

Any updates?  I'm still debating on coming down.  Mrs. T couldn't come down on Friday, 4/23 for sure but we might make it for Saturday and Sunday or I could come down by myself.  I'm still debating.
