Re: Springtime Misery rally? UPDATE ON BRUCE.
« Reply #36 on: March 24, 2010, 03:00:31 PM »
Bruce, is there any place to camp in your area if im broke that weekend? I see a KOA down by Blue Springs but that may be a long drive.

Gabe, I just got off the phone with Bruce, and this is turning out to be the "Cruise from Hell", but I'll let Bruce tell you all about it while you are having your mini-rally.  But, he said you could camp at the Smithville Reseviour which is where the trail is, and I have to say after riding out there for a week, I was ready to camp there the next time I visited.  Very nice facilities, and it is just georgious.  BUT, Bruce said if you camp there, or away from his place too far, you are going to miss out on the festivities, and especially the BROWNIES!

He said to relax and wait for him to get back and he will help everyone that needs some special care.  He also said, that because of the cost of telephone service and internet service, he will be pretty much out of contact until the 2nd of April.  Please be patient and Uncle Bruce will talke care of everything when he gets back.

I don't know about video, but Dr Duk and I always have a camera handy so there should be lots of pics.

Bruce has a pretty nice little video camera so if you remind him, he should be happy to provide the videos.

I'm home! FINALLY! As David said, it was the cruise from hell for me. I'm not a cruise person, and saw enough of the world in my youger years, so cruising to Mexico isn't my idea of a rollicking good time. I was along to help Cindy with her dad, who sometimes over-does it and needs help even standing up. He paid for the whole trip, so I figured, why not? Wish I had stayed home!

Anyway, enough of my woes. I will post another thread about that trip, possibly in the Cage!

Gabe, Blue Springs is about 10-12 miles away from our house, depending on where the campground is. I'm not aware of any other campgrounds in the immediate area. Like David said, there is great camping out at Smithville Lake, where all of our riding will happen. BUT, it's 35 miles away from our house, where most of the non-riding activities will take place. Of course, you COULD get in more riding than the rest of us! Smithville has hunreds of camping spaces around the lake, with many hot shower facilities, and the trail runs right through most of them.

Hey, if you want to save enough money to stay in a motel up here, then just hold off getting that tooth worked on and Mark, Ed, Bill, Dennis, Dr. Duk and I will yank it out or drill it for you. I have lots of drills and other equipment for such work! Besides, with a guy named "Dr. Duk" on your dental team, how could you go wrong?

It's only three weeks away, guys, and gals! Get them thar trikes cleaned up! And, get them brownie recipes polished up.

Although we had over 9" of snow the day we left for the cruise, it is now quite nice outside. Let's pray this weather holds for the rally weekend!

Anybody else need any info? Are we all ready?

Bruce:

Happy to hear everyone made it home safe & sound. Have the speed all polished up with a new addition on its way. Special brownie pan is packed in a special packing box with lots of foam. Can not have anything happen to that pan.  :o  Looking forward to the weekend and seeing some new faces and listening to the tall tales from the sea. ;D
