Jim, you don't show nearly enough holes!
Mikey, I just did a hole count on 'Spokes, and there are 733 individual holes. Some are simple cross-drillings, though, like on the tie rod and boom. A lot of weight was lost, too by simply cutting down the der post and all excess boom length that I don't need. Handlebars were cut down considerably, too. I drilled another 47 holes in the original DeoreLX der, but it didn't make the cut of parts that ended up being used, although it looked sooo cool!
Joe's trike will be almost exactly like 'Spokes, except that we are not drilling the actual boom main tube or the frame along the boom overlap area. Joe is heavier than me, and has legs as big around as my mid-section, and he didn't like how much extra flex there was in the boom on 'Spokes. I can sit on the trike and spin the rear wheel with just a bit of boom flex, but with his exta weight and power available, we decided to eliminate that possible point of weakness on his. So, his will be a few oz heavier, at best. So, Joe's will have about 640 holes in it.
